Rohit Sharma became the fourth player and third Indian to score double hundreds in both Test and ODIs. Rohit emulated fellow Indians Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag and West Indian Chris Gayle in achieving the feat. 212 is his highest score in Test cricket, bettering 177 he made on debutagainst West Indies in Kolkata in 2013-14.
Rohit became the first Indian opening batsman to aggregate 500-plus runs in a series since Virender Sehwag scored 544 runs in three home Tests against Pakistan in 2004-05. The other Indian openers to cross the 500-run landmark in a series are Vinoo Mankad, Budhi Kunderan and Sunil Gavaskar, who managed it no less than five times.
